The proceedings were presented in the same format as ISER IX, were available at the meeting and divided into the four categories: stallion, non-pregnant mare, conception and early development, and pregnant mare and perinatology. The proceedings were edited by Margaret J. Evans and Keith Betteridge, and published as a special edition of Animal Reproduction Science (Animal Reproduction Science 2010, Vol 121, Supplement 1-2).

The Ninth International Symposium on Equine Reproduction was held at Rolduc Monastery in Kerkrade, Limburg - the most southerly province in the Netherlands. The proceedings were presented in the same format as ISER VIII, were available at the meeting and divided into the four categories: stallion, non-pregnant mare, conception and early development, and pregnant mare and perinatology. The proceedings were edited by Margaret J. Evans, and published as a special edition of Animal Reproduction Science (Animal Reproduction Science 2006; 94).

The Eighth International Symposium on Equine Reproduction was held at the Colorado State University, Fort Collins, USA, in July 2002. The proceedings are presented in a format different from that of earlier volumes in the series - the length of the abstract was chosen to allow sufficient information to be included to be of benefit to the wider scientific community, while at the same time affording authors the opportunity to add further information for subsequent publication of a full paper. The presentations are divided into four categories: stallion, non-pregnant mare, conception and early development, and pregnant mare and perinatology. The proceedings were edited by Margaret J. Evans, and published by Theriogenology (Theriogenology 2002; 58:191-864).

The Seventh International Symposium on Equine Reproduction was held at the University of Onderstepoort in South Africa in July 1998. The proceedings contain the peer-reviewed papers detailing the 80 scientific presentations on stallion, non-pregnant mare, conception and early embryo development, pregnant mare and perinatal development. The proceedings were edited by W.R. Allen, F. Stewart, E.A. Stevens and C. Doberska and were published by Journal of Reproduction and Fertility (J. Reprod. Fertil. Suppl, 56; 2001).

The Sixth International Symposium on Equine Reproduction took place in Caxambu (Brazil) in August 1994. The proceedings were edited by D.C. Sharp and F.W. Bazer, and published by Biology of Reproduction (Biol. Reprod. Mono, 1; 1995). The papers in Equine Reproduction VI are grouped into four categories: perinatology, pregnant mare, non-pregnant mare and stallion, with a review article prefacing each section. The Perinatology section includes papers on fetal endocrinology and the early postpartum foal. The pregnant mare section covers: embryo handling, embryo transfer, development and physiology of the placenta, and subfertility in mares. The non-pregnant mare section features reports on endocrine control of pituitary and ovarian hormones, uterine physiology, and seasonality. The stallion section includes studies on behavior, assessment of seminal and endocrine characteristics, and semen handling techniques.

The Fifth International Symposium on Equine Reproduction was held in Deauville (France) in July 1990. The proceedings were edited by J.F. Wade, P.D. Rossdale, W.R. Allen and I.W. Rowlands, and published by Journal of Reproduction and Fertility (J. Reprod. Fertil. Suppl. 44; 1991). This volume in the Equine Reproduction Series provides full coverage of research and clinical findings in the physiology and pathology of reproduction in equids. Studies on the maturational changes in oocytes, spermatozoa and young embryos are a feature of this book, which also contains a description of the first successful in vitro fertilisation (IVF) culminating in a live foal.

The Fourth International Symposium on Equine Reproduction was held at the University of Calgary in Alberta (Canada) in August 1986. The proceedings were edited by B.J. Weir, I.W. Rowlands, W.R. Allen and P.D. Rossdale, and published by Journal of Reproduction and Fertility (J. Reprod. Fertil. Suppl. 35; 1987). This volume contains 85 full papers presented orally at Calgary and 40 expanded abstracts of the papers displayed in poster form at the meeting. As in previous volumes, there is full coverage of research and clinical findings in the physiology and pathology of reproduction in horses and other equids. A new section, dealing with research techniques and methodology is included in this volume for the first time and there are full subject and author indexes.

The Third International Symposium on Equine Reproduction was held at the University of Sydney in January 1982. The proceedings were edited by I.W. Rowlands, W.R. Allen and P.D. Rossdale, and published by Journal of Reproduction and Fertility (J. Reprod. Fertil. Suppl. 32; 1982). As in previous volumes, there is full coverage of physiological, pathological, clinical and bacteriological material; the final category being particularly represented by a Colloquium on Corynebacterium infection. The Colloquium on the readiness for birth complemented the other papers in the section on the perinatal period and the suckling foal.

The Second International Symposium on Equine Reproduction was held at the University of California, Davis in July 1978. The proceedings were edited by I.W. Rowlands and W.R. Allen and published by Journal of Reproduction and Fertility (J. Reprod. Fertil. Suppl. 27; 1979). Eighty-three papers provide a complete resume of worldwide insight in basic and clinical research into all aspects of mare and stallion reproduction. These proceedings contain many original accounts of reproductive processes in the equine that are still quoted in the current literature.

The first International Symposium on Equine Reproduction was held in Cambridge (UK) in July 1974 and was the initiative of Twink Allen with the support of John Hughes, Doug Mitchell, Bill Pickett and Peter Rossdale. The aim of the symposium was to provide a forum for biologists and veterinarians of like interests to exchange and argue their views, to review the present state of knowledge of the subject, to produce guidelines for future research, and to foster international friendship and collaboration. Proceedings were edited by I.W. Rowlands, W.R. Allen and P.D. Rossdale and published as a supplement of the Journal of Reproduction and Fertility (J. Reprod. Fertil. Suppl. 23; 1975). The title was 'Equine Reproduction'.
